Thank you for your interest in studies at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT).
All the applicants have to go through a regular process of admission which includes filling of application form till they qualify the merit list and if found eligible, will be fortunate to get admission in CIIT. Due to the limited number of seats in each program, above average grades usually entitle one for admission into a program. In order for any application to be assessed, the university must receive a complete application form along with required documents. The applicant has to meet the competence standard in order to qualify for admission. One must meet both the general requirements and the prerequisites for specific faculties and programs on offer. Some programs may have specific requirements and details of these can be found in the relevant program description.
Review the information in the CIIT Prospectus and the programs of each Faculty at respective campuses. Determine the campus and Faculty within which your desired program is being offered and then decide where you want to study.
Keep in mind that at CIIT, you are admitted to a Faculty and not just to the University. In addition to the academic criteria, proficiency in English Language is also important as the mode of instruction is English. Instead of wasting time and energy in going through the application process, you must self-check whether you meet this criteria. You should be clear why you have chosen CIIT and the particular program you are applying for, before embarking on filling out the form as it will save you a lot of hassle. To be eligible for admission in the Fall Semester you need to apply in June when the admissions would be announced in the print media and on the university website. Similarly for admission in Spring semester, you need to make your application in December. Incomplete admission forms and late applications will not be entertained.
Details of application procedure are outlined below:
Admission to CIIT is determined by a combination of factors. One of which is the Entrance Test combined with the weighted marks earned in the previous public examinations. The Entrance Test is conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS). For further information about the NTS and its testing procedure, candidates can seek assistance from the NTS website www.nts.org.pk.
After the last date of submission of Admission Forms, entrance tests will be conducted by NTS according to the admission schedule OR on a given date (for NAT) as notified by NTS through their website and the print media.
Those candidates who have already given the NTS centralized test, and have the valid result card of one year too and want to apply for admission then they only need to attach a copy of this NTS – NAT result card for undergraduate admissions and submit along with the application form and documents.
Cases without any information about their test conducted/otherwise will not be entertained.
Regarding interviews the date and venue will be intimated along with the display of the merit lists.
A list of provisionally selected candidates is displayed on specified dates on the campus notice boards as well as on the CIIT website www.ciit.edu.pk.
The Admissions Office will also contact applicants selected for admission by email. However, applicants are urged to make a pro-active effort to know the status of their application for admission by either visiting the concerned campus or CIIT's website.
After verification of the documents, applicants will be issued "Admission Offer" letter along with a Bank Challan Form for payment of dues.
Selected applicants are required to confirm their acceptance by paying the non-refundable fees within the specified dates. Admission process will only be complete after the payment of fee is confirmed. If candidates fail to confirm enrollment by the given deadline, selection will stand cancelled and the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.At this time, Undertaking on Stamp Paper, is also required to be submitted by the student and guardian to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute (specimen is given in the application pack).
CIIT schedules an Orientation session for all new students to welcome and acquaint them with general policies and services of the Institute. Registration for courses is also completed at this time. Attendance at the session is mandatory. This is a good chance for students to become familiar with their new environment as well as interact with instructors and their peers.
